Energy Saving LEDs… What are they?

  • Wednesday, 6th December, 2017

With traditional lighting been phased out, a new generation of intelligent, energy saving lighting has arrived! LED stands for ‘light emitting diode’ and is a semiconductor device which emits light when conducting a current. LEDs are an efficient, energy saving light source that can now be used throughout the whole spectrum of your home and the workplace to drastically reduce necessary power consumption. While the initial cost is a little higher, the energy efficient LED reduces costs substantially is a much safer, better quality lighting technology that will last up to 50,000 hours longer.

So, let’s get technical for a moment… the efficiency of a light is measured in lumens (lm) per watt (w), the higher the lumens per watt, the more efficient the light is.

Here’s an example

Your standard 30w incandescent light produces 450lm with an efficiency of 15 lm/w, a Conservergy 5w LED light produces 450lm and has an efficiency of 90l/w.

You might be thinking, what does that mean?

Let us explain… so, they both have the same lumens, however, the LED light has a higher efficiency, less heat generation and a lower running cost. Additionally the energy saving LED light is saving over 83% in power consumption. Now what’s not to like about that saving?

With big energy savings, your return on investment can be as little as one year. What are you waiting for? Contact us today on 073100 9730 or at contactus@conservergy.com.au and one of our energy saving specialists will be in contact with you.
